Thank you to the hundreds of people who joined us in person and online for this year’s Lowitja O’Donoghue Oration held during National Reconciliation Week on Wednesday 29 May. The Oration is a special event on the Foundation’s calendar each year and this year was even more poignant given the passing of Dr O’Donoghue earlier this year.
Guest Orator Professor Tom Calma delivered a compelling speech entitled “Looking Back to Look Forward – lessons from the past to influence actions of the future”, paying tribute to the life and legacy of Dr O’Donoghue and shining a light on the vital issue of justice reinvestment.
The event also featured an emotional tribute to the late Dr O’Donoghue with the traditional Freedom Songs performed by acclaimed First Nations musicians Nancy Bates and Vonda Last.
