Homelessness Conference 2016
Home is where the heart is: Building hope for mental health and recovery
The 2016 conference brought together two sectors critical in supporting those in need, to explore the impacts of mental illness in people who become homeless and the effect of being homeless on mental health.
The discussion focused on the value of better integration of mental health services and the homelessness sector, informed by lived experience.
Speakers
Rosanne Haggerty
Rosanne Haggerty, President and Chief Executive of Community Solutions in the United States and former Thinker in Residence (2005) returned to Adelaide on the 10th anniversary of Common Ground Adelaide. She has gone on to launch Community Solutions – helping communities solve the problems that create and sustain homelessness. In her presentation Homelessness is not the problem: Making democracy work in the 21st century, Rosanne brought a new perspective on the integration of services.
Professor Mike Slade
Mike Slade is Professor of Mental Health, Recovery and Social Inclusion at the University of Nottingham and a leading world expert on mental health.
